Top 3 Graphic Design Trends to Watch in 2025

Design is always shifting, and 2025 is bringing some really interesting stuff to the surface. Whether you’re thinking about refreshing your brand or just want to stay in the loop with what’s new, here are three trends I’ve been seeing a lot and honestly, I’m kind of obsessed.

Bold, Expressive Typography

Big, in-your-face fonts are everywhere right now and I’m here for it. Designers are moving away from super clean, neutral type and leaning into chunky, expressive, sometimes even weird lettering. In some cases, the type itself becomes the design, which I think is such a fun way to make a statement.

Want to see it in action?
Here are a few great roundups:

  • Designmodo’s bold type design showcase

  • Creative Boom’s font trends for 2025

  • Wix’s typography trends guide

Try it: Use bold type for headlines or hero sections. Keep the rest of the layout clean so the message really lands.

Soft Gradients + a Bit of Texture

Gradients aren’t going anywhere, but they’re showing up in a more grown-up way this year. Think muted color blends with a little texture like grain or noise to make them feel more natural and less digital. It’s subtle, but it gives designs a warmer, more handmade vibe.

Some good inspo here:

  • Adobe’s 2025 design trends (they mention textured gradients specifically)

  • Kittl’s breakdown of the gradient trend

  • Easil’s tips on using gradients with texture

Try it: Use these as backgrounds or overlays. They work great behind text, or as a backdrop for product photos or social content. Just don’t overdo the grain.

Using AI as a Creative Tool

AI isn’t taking over design (despite what some folks say), but it is becoming a really useful part of the creative process. I’ve been using AI tools more lately to play around with layout ideas, get past creative blocks, or generate starter visuals. Then I go in and make it my own.

If you’re curious, check these out:

  • Superside’s real-world examples of AI in design

  • Adobe Firefly’s tools for designers

  • This interview with Microsoft’s head of design about how AI is changing the designer’s role

Try it: Think of AI as a creative jumpstart. It’s great for rough drafts, mood boards, or kicking off a new concept, but your eye and your voice should still lead.

Trends come and go, but at the end of the day, good design is about connection. It’s about helping people feel something, and these trends are just new ways to do that. So whether you go bold with type, add some texture to your backgrounds, or use AI to shake up your workflow, make sure it still feels like you or your brand.

Thinking about working some of this into your brand or next project? Let’s talk. I’d love to help.
